Bentonite

Bentonite Powder
Product Description
Drilling-grade bentonite is a naturally occurring clay mineral, commonly sodium-activated for use in water-based drilling fluids. When hydrated, it develops viscosity and gel strength, helping suspend drilled cuttings and support borehole cleaning. It can also form a low-permeability filter cake that helps limit fluid loss into permeable formations. Suitability depends on mineralogy, activation, water chemistry and the drilling programme.
Key Applications
  • Oil and gas drilling fluids
  • Water-well and geotechnical drilling
  • Horizontal directional drilling (HDD)
  • Piling, diaphragm walls and selected tunnelling/slurry applications
Technical & Procurement Information
Typical buyer checks: applicable API 13A / OCMA requirements, yield or rheology, filtrate loss, moisture, residue/particle size, hydration performance and compatibility with mix water. Confirm the exact grade and test method before specifying compliance.
